Morphological features delimiting Sclerotinia. General morphological characteristics delimiting Sclerotinia as defined by Whetzel (1945) and Kohn (1979). The genus is defined by the presence of definite, tuberoid sclerotia not incorporating host tissue (A), single-celled, hyaline ascospores (B), and cells of the outer excipulum of the apothecium that are globose and oriented perpendicularly to the apothecial surface (C).
