The mice were irradiated with 7 Gy of 60Co γ radiation and challenged with 3.3 × 108 CFU of B. anthracis Sterne spores. Lung, spleen, or heart blood was aseptically removed from mice euthanized on schedule on days 5, 7, 9, 12, and 14. Therapy was begun 7.5 h after challenge. The numerators show the proportion of animals from which general categories of bacteria were isolated relative to therapeutic agent or control. The numerators were differentiated further between gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.
