Cotton rats (10 per group) were treated with 4% PRO 2000, matched placebo gel, or PBS and then challenged 15 min later with 104 PFU of HSV-2(G) introduced by pipette. Vaginal swabs were collected for 7 days for detection of HSV by PCR; results for vaginal swabs from three animals per group are shown.
