Average plaque sizes for viable 3′ 42-nucleotide mutant viruses generated with the MHV infectious clone. Plaque sizes were measured after monolayers were stained with crystal violet. The monolayer and a millimeter ruler were digitally photographed and projected. The projected plaque sizes and the degree of enlargement were determined with a millimeter ruler, and the actual plaque sizes were calculated.
