Metabolites were determined in discs from developing potato tubers of wild-type plants incubated in Glc (dark yellow), Fru (dark green), Suc (dark red), or mannitol (dark blue). Data are normalized to the mean response calculated for the wild-type steady-state levels of each measure batch. (To allow comparison between measure batches, individual wild-type values were normalized in the same way.) Values presented are the mean ± se of four independent determinants.
