Processing an extended oscillatory signal using linear and multi-tau correlators. The correlation function of an oscillatory signal is calculated using a linear correlator (continuous line) and a multi-tau correlator (individual data points). In a multi-tau correlator the spacing between the calculated points increases as the lag time increases. The software multi-tau correlator was designed according to Wohland et al. (2001).
