Effect of IL-8 on hepatocyte apoptosis induced by TNF-α. (A) Hc cells infected with Ad5IκB or Ad5LacZ were preincubated with 25 μM LY 294002 for 1 h and then treated with TNF-α (20 ng/ml) for 24 h. (B) Hc cells treated with the indicated agents were incubated for 24 h in the absence or presence of IL-8 (1 ng/ml) or anti-IL-8 neutralization antibody (5 μg/ml). Typical apoptotic cells stained with Hoechst 33258 were counted among more than 1,000 cells, and the percentage of apoptotic cell was determined.
