The experimental arrangement. IR light (magenta) is focused by the objective on a muscle fiber mounted on a stage of a microscope. The fluorescent light (yellow) is measured by cooled photomultipliers (Hamamatsu 6060-02, Hamamatsu, Japan). The UV light (blue) is used to generate ATP from a caged precursor. The 1P data is obtained using Ar/Kr laser (green).
