Schematic illustration of the polymer-tethered phospholipid bilayer consisting of glass substrate, polymer cushion, and covalently tethered phospholipid bilayer. The covalent tethering at the polymer-bilayer interface is achieved via lipopolymer molecules. In the current study phospholipids and lipopolymers used are 1-stearoyl-2-oleoyl-3-glycero-phosphorylcholine (SOPC) and dioctadecylamine [poly(ethyloxazoline) 8988] (DODA-E85), respectively.
