Different mechanisms for the blockade of the force. (A) Blockade of the force for certain domains (such as a three-way junction molecule) due to the connectivity of the molecule. The force cannot act upon the domains D2 and D3 while D1 is closed. (B) Blockade of the force for certain domains (such as an RNA kissing complex) due to the presence of Mg2+ tertiary contacts. The domain D3 does not feel the force until the Mg2+ tertiary contact breaks.
