L. donovani infection enhances protection against Listeria. Listeria-naïve or Listeria-immune BALB/c mice were infected with L. donovani and at 68 days after infection were challenged with 6 × 105 CFU Listeria. The bacterial burdens in the spleens (A) and livers (B) were determined by colony counting as described in Materials and Methods.
