IEC-6 cells were treated with TNF-α/CHX (plus/minus) either in the presence or absence of 50 μM PpYLKTK, a cell-permeant STAT3 inhibitory peptide, for 3 h or of 50 μM AG490, a JAK inhibitor. DNA fragmentation was assayed by cell death detection ELISA and expressed as absorbance 405 nm/mg of protein per min. *, P<0.005 compared with the respective untreated group (means±S.E.M., n=6).
