Table 2. STAT3 regulates Bcl-2 promoter activity.

IEC-6 cells were transfected with empty vector or a Bcl-2-promoter–luciferase construct (Bcl-2-Luc); DN-STAT3 cells were transfected with the Bcl-2-promoter–luciferase construct as described in the Experimental section. At 3 days after transfection, Bcl-2 promoter-transfected cells were treated with 50 μM AG490 for 30 min. Cells were lysed and luciferase activity was measured using the Promega luciferase assay kit. Values were expressed as RLU/min per mg (relative luciferase units/min per mg of protein). Values are means±S.E.M. *P<0.05 compared with Bcl-2-promoter-transfected cells.
