The numbers of naïve CD4⁺ and CD8⁺ peripheral T cells were lower in Prep1^i/i mice than in wild-type mice. Lymph node cells from Prep1^i/i and wild-type littermates were stained with FITC-conjugated anti-CD4, APC-conjugated anti-CD8, and PE-conjugated anti-CD44 antibodies. Viable cells were gated according to their forward scatter and side scatter characteristics. The absolute numbers of CD44^high and CD44^low cells for CD4 and CD8 gated lymphocytes are shown in the histogram.
