Table 8.

Relative change in percentage hemolysis in cats from a multivariable mixed-effects Gamma model.

Predictor Contrast/scale Relative change in hemolysis (%, 95% CI) Test (stat) p-value
Donor age Per year 0.33% (0.18 to 0.48) Wald t = 4.29 <0.001
Storage duration Per day 9.94% (9.74 to 10.15) Wald t = 101.48 <0.001
PCV range (overall) — — Type II χ2(3) = 114.81 <0.001

Estimates are multiplicative relative changes in percentage hemolysis from a multivariable mixed-effects Gamma model (log link) with a random intercept for donor ID. Continuous predictors are interpreted per unit as indicated (age per year; storage duration per day). For multi-level predictors (PCV), the table shows overall Type II Wald χ2 tests; contrasts with the reference level are reported elsewhere. In cats, longer storage is associated with higher hemolysis (≈9.94% per week; 95% CI 9.74 to 10.15). Hemolysis increases with donor age. Across PCV bands, hemolysis is highest at 40–45% and lowest at 51–55%. PCV: packed cell volume; CI: confidence interval.
