Table 2.

Associations of actigraphy measures with PROMs and summary insights.

Actigraphy measure PROMs entry XCF Insights
M10 time PSQI domain1: quality 0.39 ± 0.23 Later start of the most active 10 h is associated with reduced sleep quality
Sleep offset (wake up) PSQI domain1: quality 0.32 ± 0.51 Waking up later is associated with reduced sleep quality, although this is quite variable
Sleep temperature offset - zenith time difference PSQI domain 4: sleep efficiency 0.30 ± 0.36 The difference between the wrist temperature at wake up and max temperature during sleep is associated with reduced sleep efficiency
Sleep activity 50th percentile PSQI domain 5: sleep disturbances 0.30 ± 0.22 The median movement activity during sleep is associated with increased sleep disturbances
Sleep activity 5th percentile PSQI domain 6: Medication -0.36 ± 0.13 Minimal sleep activity (5th percentile) is negatively associated with medication
Sleep activity 25th percentile WWQB-I item 3: night work 0.33 ± 0.41 People working for more than two hours between 22:00 and 05:00 had on average increased sleep activity
Sleep temperature nadir WWQB-I item 3: night work 0.31 ± 0.31 People working for more than two hours between 22:00 and 05:00 had on average increased minimum sleep temperature compared to others

For details on the actigraphy measures see the Supplementary Material “Actigraphy_measures.xlsx”. We used ‘PROMs entry’ here to denote active input from participants broadly, including the computed outputs (e.g. PSQI domains) rather than only refer to explicit PROMs items completed by participants. The XCF entries are presented in the form mean±standard deviation. We clarify that the shortened “night work” WWQB-I item refers to people working for at least two hours between 22:00 and 05:00, see also the Questionnaires_in_SHAW.xlsx file for details.
