(a) Growth of L40 yeast transformed with the indicated constructs was analyzed both on selective medium without tryptophan (+His) and on medium without tryptophan and histidine (−His) as described in Materials and Methods. β-Galactosidase (β-gal) activity was evaluated using the colony-lift filter assay.
