For strains D188-5 and D188, the aldo- and ketoacid levels under the four growth conditions are not significantly different (P > 0.05; *); for mutant strain X798, there is a significant difference between aldo- and ketoacid levels on acetate (†), glycerol and plant (‡), and leafy gall (§) (P < 0.001). Also, between strains D188 and D188-5 and strain X798, there is a significant difference in aldo- and ketoacid concentrations (P < 0.001).
