Fig 2.

Grid of CLSM images showing biofilm development in 40 Tenacibaculum strains at T0h, T24h, and T72h. Structural diversity ranges from sparse adhesion to dense mats across strains.

Diversity of submerged biofilm maturation dynamics in 40 Tenacibaculum strains. The biofilms were grown on 96-well plates in marine broth. For each of the 40 strains, observation snapshots were acquired at three specific developmental stages: T0h (initial cell adhesion), T24h (maturation phase), and T72h (late-stage development). Representative images from CLSM observations illustrate the structural evolution and architectural diversity of submerged biofilms across the collection. The 2D projections of the 3D biofilm architectures were generated from confocal z-stacks using IMARIS software in the blend mode. The artificial shadow is an xz section that provides a representation of the thickness and roughness of the biofilm. Scale bar = 40 µm.
