Table 2.

Coherence threshold values applied for different land cover types.

Land cover reclassification Coherence threshold (avgSpatialCoh) Justification
Developed land ≥ 0.45 Stable scatterers from built structures support a higher threshold, remaining only the most reliable urban pixels. The boxplot IQR upper quartile (0.40) and per-interferogram scatter confirm that Developed Land routinely exceeds 0.45 in most pairs.
Pasture/Hay/Barren ≥ 0.35 Moderately stable surfaces with intermediate scattering properties. The threshold is set at the approximate IQR upper quartile for this class, balancing spatial coverage against measurement reliability.
Grassland/Shrub/Crops/Agriculture ≥ 0.30 Vegetation-induced decorrelation lowers coherence; a threshold of 0.30 retains pixels above the median coherence for this class while excluding the most decorrelated measurements dominated by dense canopy interaction.
Forest/Wetland/Marsh ≥ 0.25 The lowest threshold reflects the inherently challenging coherence conditions in vegetated wetland environments. Setting the threshold at 0.25 above the minimum temporal coherence of 0.2 (applied during MintPy inversion) retains marsh and wetland pixels that maintain sufficient phase stability for deformation measurement while acknowledging the limited C-band penetration through dense canopies.
