The other genes of the bad operon code for an alcohol dehydrogenase (had), a ring hydrolase (oah), and a dienoyl-CoA dehydratase (dch), which are all involved in the benzoyl-CoA pathway. A stem-loop structure forms at the 3′ end of fdx, suggesting that transcription is terminated at this site.
