Organization of the genes involved in the benzoyl-CoA pathway of benzoate degradation (bad operon) and the two genes coding for the subunits of KGOR. korAB code for the two subunits of KGOR, bcrABCD code for the four structural genes of benzoyl-CoA reductase, and fdx codes for ferredoxin. The other genes of the bad operon code for an alcohol dehydrogenase (had), a ring hydrolase (oah), and a dienoyl-CoA dehydratase (dch), which are all involved in the benzoyl-CoA pathway. A stem-loop structure forms at the 3′ end of fdx, suggesting that transcription is terminated at this site.
