Mutation of Y1113 blocks the antiapoptotic effect of Tie1. Cells expressing wild-type fTie1 or Y1113F were serum starved overnight in the absence or presence of CSF-1 (500 ng/ml). The following morning the cells were UV irradiated (1,200 J/m²). Cell lysates were separated by SDS-8 to 16% PAGE and Western blotted with the indicated Abs. CSF-1 treatment induced an increase in Akt phosphorylation and a decrease in caspase 3 cleavage in wild-type fTie1 cells but not in Y1113F-expressing cells.
