Absence of αvβ3 and αvβ5 does not lead to cerebral hemorrhage. E12.5 embryos, either wild type (A), null for both β3 and β5 integrin genes (B), or null for all five αv integrins (C), were dissected and analyzed. Only embryos lacking all αv integrins displayed grossly visible cerebral hemorrhage (arrow in C).
