From three publications (4,5,7) we extracted data from subsets of the arrays publicly available. This was because differing array print formats had been used, and we chose to use only the largest subset of identically printed arrays in order to ensure data integrity. The columns ‘Number of array elements’, ‘Number repeatedly spotted’ and ‘Number of spots, repeatedly spotted clones’, correspond to the numbers n, nm and ns, as defined in the Materials and Methods.
