The SAOS-α2β1 cells were transfected with HA-tagged wild-type caveolin-3 or dominant negative caveolin for 48 h and then infected with EV1. Ten hours p.i., the cells were labeled with rabbit anti-EV1 and mouse anti-HA antibodies. The proportion of infected cells among the transfected ones was calculated using a confocal microscope. The experiment was carried out three times. The results are from three parallel samples. The number of cells used for the calculation is in parentheses.
The reduction of infection due to CavDGV transfection was statistically significant (P = 0.05; Kruskal-Wallis one-way analysis of variance).
