vOX2-GST protein targets myeloid-lineage cells to induce inflammatory cytokine production. T cells (T), B cells (B), monocytes/macrophages (Mo), and dendritic cells (DC) were sorted by flow cytometry. Each lymphocyte (10⁵) was incubated with 1 μg of GST or vOX2-GST per ml or medium as a mock treatment in the absence or presence of IFN-γ (100 U/ml). At 48 h postincubation, the supernatants were harvested and measured for production of IL-1β (A) and TNF-α (β) by ELISA. Data are averages from triplicate measurements, and error bars indicate standard deviations.
