A, Samples (100 ng) of the SHT and THT cDNA fragments were separated on a 1.5% agarose gel, stained with ethidium bromide, and blotted to a membrane. The blots were hybridized with the ³²P-labeled probes denoted above the images. B, Northern-blot analysis of N-hydroxycinnamoyltransferase transcript levels in various organs from mature (2-month-old) pepper plants. The RNAs (20 μg) were hybridized with ³²P-labeled SHT or THT probes at high stringency. Equal loading of the total RNA was demonstrated by ethidium bromide staining.
