Inhibition of proliferation of EBV-positive cells by an LMP-1 antisense oligonucleotide. Proliferative responses were evaluated by measuring [³H]thymidine uptake after 48 h of cell culture. Cell lines TE1, Rafa B-LCL, and DG 75 were cultured alone or with oligonucleotide AS2 (▪) or SC2 (□) at two concentrations (5 and 10 μM). Results were expressed as percentages compared with that for the untreated control. The proliferative rate of untreated cells was arbitrarily defined as 100%. The values represent the means of triplicate assays ± standard deviations.
