IFN-α/β synthesis by dsRNA-transfected TEC. TEC were seeded at 5 × 10⁴ cells/cm² for 24 h and then transfected with 5 μg of either ssRNA [poly(C)] or dsRNA [poly(I · C)] per ml. (A) Supernatants were collected 8, 24, 48, and 72 h after transfection. IFN-α/β were tested by using a biological quantification assay. Results correspond to the means from three independent experiments (standard deviations were less than 10%). (B) Supernatants from ssRNA- or dsRNA-transfected TEC were collected on day 3, and IFN-α synthesis was determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.
