Multiple linear regression analysis was performed with FIM gain as the dependent variable. All variables were entered simultaneously using the forced-entry method. B indicates the unstandardized regression coefficient. FIM gain was defined as discharge total FIM score minus admission total FIM score. Pre-admission polypharmacy was defined as the use of five or more regular pre-admission medications. The reference categories were male sex, ischemic stroke, pre-stroke mRS 0-2, and non-polypharmacy.

BMI: body mass index; CI: confidence interval; FIM: Functional Independence Measure; mRS: modified Rankin Scale; NIHSS: National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale; SE: standard error.
