A geometry conservative conformational change may underlie slow inactivation. Voltage gated K-channel is seen from the external side perpendicular to the plane of the membrane, with the axis of symmetry in the pore. The oval represents a peptide toxin, which can bind to both conformations. The rotational movement of the vestibule would twist pore lining, changing the ion conduction properties resulting from slow inactivation.
