FIGURE 4.

Graphic comparing two arms of a twelve-week phase three lipid efficacy trial: Hybutimibe 20 mg plus atorvastatin 10 mg (n equals 128, LDL-C reduction minus 16.39 percent, adverse events 51.18 percent) versus atorvastatin 20 mg plus placebo (n equals 125, LDL-C reduction minus 6.75 percent, adverse events 61.60 percent). Includes a note that comparison is only with atorvastatin dose escalation and is not designed to assess cardiovascular outcomes.

LDL-C-Lowering Strategies Evaluated in the Phase III Add-on Trial of Hybutimibe. In patients whose LDL-C remained above target during atorvastatin 10 mg/day therapy, add-on hybutimibe 20 mg/day was compared with atorvastatin dose escalation over 12 weeks. The additional LDL-C reductions were 16.39% and 6.75%, respectively. The trial supports greater short-term LDL-C lowering with add-on hybutimibe than with atorvastatin dose escalation under the studied conditions. It did not compare hybutimibe with ezetimibe or other contemporary non-statin therapies and was not designed to evaluate cardiovascular outcomes.
