(A) Depiction of the secondary structure of the U4/U6 snRNA complex. Interaction between the two snRNAs is stabilized by formation of two stem regions (I and II). The secondary structre of U4 snRNA in the U4/U6 snRNA complex consists of three stem–loops, the 5′SL, the [CSL] and the 3′SL. The NMR structure of the 3′SL (indicated in the dashed box) was determined in the present study. (B) Primary sequence and secondary structure of the 3′SL from human U4 snRNA. The numbers between the nucleotides indicate the number of inter-residue restraints used to determine the NMR structure.
