Challenge Salmonella Enteritidis load in the cecum of birds. The bacterial enumeration in the cecum was performed at post-challenge days 4 and 10. The cecal content was diluted and plated on XLT4 agar plates supplemented with 20 μg/ml of Nalidixic acid and Novobiocin. Each bar represents the mean ± SEM of log10 CFU/g from 8–13 birds per treatment group. Only significant comparisons are indicated in the figures.
