Table 6.

Bootstrap tests for four independent parallel mediating paths (N = 509), 5,000 resamples).

Mediating path Unstandardized indirect effect Standard error 95% Lower CI 95% Upper CI Significance
Parental psychological control → Identified regulation → Employment anxiety −0.0205 0.009 −0.041 −0.005 Significant
Parental psychological control → External regulation → Employment anxiety −0.0155 0.008 −0.033 −0.002 Significant
Career decision-making self-efficacy → Identified regulation → Employment anxiety 0.1291 0.035 0.068 0.203 Significant
Career decision-making self-efficacy → External regulation → Employment anxiety 0.0378 0.016 0.011 0.073 Significant

Indirect effects were calculated as the product of the unstandardized path coefficient from the independent variable to the mediator and the coefficient from the mediator to the dependent variable. Identified regulation and external regulation served as parallel independent mediators, separately transmitting the statistical associations of the two independent variables with employment anxiety.
