Figure 2.

Amino Acid Sequence Comparison of Ntcel2, Ntcel7, and Ntcel8.

Amino acid sequences were aligned using programs of the Wisconsin Package Version 10.0, Seqweb Version 1.1 (Genetics Computer Group, Madison, WI). Dots were introduced by the program to optimize the alignment. Black boxes depict identical amino acids among the three sequences. The vertical arrow designates the putative secretion signal peptide cleavage sites of the proteins as determined by the SignalP Version 1.1 program (Nielson et al., 1997). Horizontal arrows designate two conserved amino acid domains used to amplify tobacco EGases from nematode-infected root tissue. An extra 124–amino acid sequence encoding a putative cellulose binding domain at the C terminus of Ntcel8 is underlined.
