Intensity ratio reaches a steady value of RI = 0.38 in 8 μs. Experimental conditions: Ue = 2.9 m/s, focused stream width 110 nm (• experiment, – low-pass filter convolution with a Gaussian kernel, σ = 0.5 μs). (b) Potassium iodide concentration as a function of time from dye-quenching experiment. Mixing is from 0 M to 500 mM KI. Salt concentration is calculated by fitting intensity ratio profile to equilibrium data. The salt concentration reaches an equilibrium value of ~400 mM in 8 μs (• experiment, – simulation).
