^aWild-type and deficient mice infected by Y strain T. cruzi parasites were sacrificed at the indicated days, and their livers were analyzed for the presence of amastigote nests. Results represent the mean (±SD) amastigote nests of six non-consecutive hematoxilin-eosin stained slides, for each mouse, for five mice from each group and time point.
