Identification of the SCRs of FH involved in FhbA binding. To assess the purity of the SCR constructs and to verify that they were immunoreactive with the anti-FH/FHL-1 antiserum, each SCR construct was fractionated by SDS-PAGE, immunoblotted, and screened with anti-FH/FHL-1 antiserum (A). To determine which SCR constructs bound FhbA, rFhbA and recombinant BBN39 (negative control) were fractionated by SDS-PAGE, immunoblotted, and screened with the SCR constructs indicated above the immunoblots. Bound SCR constructs were detected with anti-FH/FHL-1 antiserum (B).
