Sarkosyl solubility of membrane-associated OmpC. Purified whole-cell envelopes were treated either with just buffer (Untreated) or with Sarkosyl as indicated. After incubation, samples were centrifuged to separate Sarkosyl-soluble proteins (S, supernatant) from envelopes containing Sarkosyl-insoluble proteins (P, pellet). OmpC from each fraction was detected by Western blot analysis with polyclonal antibodies specific to OmpC.
