Genotype distribution in multiply injured patients with severe posttraumatic sepsis is significantly different from that of multiple trauma patients with an uncomplicated clinical course. Odds ratios and p values are for comparisons with the TNFB1/other genotype (TNFB1/B1 and TNFB1/B2). Numbers in parenthesis are percentages. Compared with the heterozygous genotype, the odds ratio for the TNFB2 homozygous genotype in the entire patient population is 3.45 (p = 0.0026; χ²_PMH = 8.99; 95% CI 1.54 to 7.77).
