Emulsifying activities and galactosamine content of defined mutants of A. lwoffii RAG-1 compared to the wild type. Relative emulsifying activity and relative galactosamine content were determined as described in Materials and Methods. The emulsifying activity of RAG-1 is 210 U/ml, the cell-associated galactosamine content of RAG-1 is 106 μg/OD600, and the galactosamine content in the supernatant of RAG-1 is 1,170 μg/ml. Relative emulsifying activity (white bars), relative cell-associated galactosamine content (dark-grey bars), and relative galactosamine content in the supernatant (light-grey bars). The results are the averages ± standard deviations (error bars) of at least three different experiments.
