At t = 0 all proteins are monomers and they rapidly react to form larger oligomers. The most conspicuous feature of the distribution is that there are very few oligomers of intermediate sizes. (b) Concentration of the most common oligomers: 1- (solid line), 2- (dashed line), 6- (×), and 60-mers (○) as a function of time. All other oligomers have negligible concentrations. (c) Time for the completion of SPMV capsids with κ = 10−3. For this value of κ, the number of dissociation events is almost negligible, as shown in Fig. 10.
