The heads of the hairpin β-turns are connected in the vertical direction by one direct hydrogen bond, N16A···O6, and several hydrogen bonds mediated by water molecules, N6···W1, W1···015, and W1···017; and W2···05 and W2···07. If the assemblage is translated by one cell-length in the c direction, the tails of molecules A and B interdigitate with van der Waals distances between the hydrophobic tails and side chains.
