Fits using our three-state model (black) result in good agreements with the variances (green) of molecules of very different lengths. For each molecule, N is fixed to the value obtained from fitting the force-extension curves using the FJC model, while Δlbi, Δlbc, and B are left free to vary. The values obtained for the fitting parameters are very similar even though the molecules vary in length by more than a factor of 3.
