Delayed cell spreading by Rac1-null cells. Immortalized Rac1-null (c/c-k/k) and control (c/c) cells were trypsinized and plated on 5 μg/ml fibronectin. At the indicated time points the cells were fixed and stained with Alexa-phalloidin. Cell area was calculated using fluorescent-based thresholding in ImageJ software from n > 100 cells per time point. Results are the mean of three independent experiments. Error bars, SEM. To compare between different experiments, results are expressed as a fraction of maximum spreading.
