FIGURE 3

Effect of diffusion coefficient on concentration. A 60-s collapse was examined for cases of D = 0.1, 1, 10, and 100 μm2/s, where the LIS width decreases linearly to 15% of its original value (from 1.5 to 0.225 μm) over a 60-s interval. Diffusion coefficient units are μm2/s. Inset is for the case of D = 0.1 μm2/s (timescale goes to 5000 s). All cases assume a constant shedding rate of q = 10 molecules/cell/min.
