Assays were carried out on glucose-starved cultures (T = 0′), as well as on the same cells, 1, 5, and 10 min after the addition of glucose to a final concentration of 100 mm as previously described (Byrne and Hoffman 1993) using the cAMP [¹²⁵I]Biotrak Assay System (Amersham Biosciences).
