Effect of systemic treatment with anastellin on the growth of human xenograft tumors in mice. s.c. tumors were grown in nude mice from C8161 melanoma cells. Treatment with biweekly i.p. injections of the indicated substances was started 3 weeks after the tumor implantation and continued for 3 weeks. The injections consisted of vehicle, 100 μg of fibronectin, 100 μg of fibronectin mixed with 300 μg of anastellin (sFN), or 300 μg of anastellin alone. The tumors of the mice treated with sFN or anastellin grew significantly less than the tumors of the mice treated with vehicle alone (P < 0.001 and P < 0.05, respectively).
