Example records from two commissural interneurones (AD and EH) in which monosynaptic EPSPs were evoked from group I afferents (A and E) and from MLF (B and F) but not from group II afferents, which instead evoked disynaptic IPSPs (C, latency 3.1 ms; H, latency 2.8 ms). In the first interneurone IPSPs were also evoked from contralateral group II afferents (shown in D) and in the second interneurone IPSPs were also evoked from group I afferents (shown in G). Calibration pulses at the beginning of each trace are 0.5 mV in amplitude. Note that the antidromic spikes in A and G are blocked and that only that in C (taken before the record in A) shows the afterhyperpolarization.
